Royal Jelly and Honey

I have been posting to the Fertility Community forum since January. Only since this last cycle have I really seen anything about Royal Jelly and Honey. It peaked my interest so I did my own research.

There really isn't a lot of research information out there, but what I did find is that royal jelly is one of those items that taken on a daily basis will help a lot of ailments like infertility, Parkinson, arthritis, diabetes, helps skin look younger, and my other favorite thing is it helps weight loss.

Some of the women on the forum have said that it increased the number of eggs retrieved and the maturity of the eggs. They have also said that it has helped their husbands increase the amount and quality of sperm.

There is two forms of royal jelly, pure jelly-like substance and freeze dried. I have not found any evidence the either form is better than the other. The differences are:
  • The pure jelly
    • needs to be kept refrigerated
    • You eat it a couple times a day
    • Some do not like the taste, but I am told it is very sweet because of the honey
  • The capsules
    • Can be carried with you easily on trips
    • In most cases you just take two capsules in the morning and you are done
Warning: please do not take any of this if you are allergic to bee stings. You may be allergic to this product as well. If you are unable to swallow the capsules you can take the capsules apart and sprinkle the content on cereal or other foods. Do not put the jelly form in hot drinks. That kills most of the properties that will help your body.

Royal jelly and honey combined with Propolis and Bee Pollen is the best combination to help infertility. For maximum results start taking the royal jelly 3 months before IVF. Although some women have found just taking it for a couple months or less has still helped them receive their BFP.

Since this is my last cycle I am pulling out all the stops. I have started taking capsules from The Natural Shopper. I will keep you informed on how my body reacts.

Here are some of the web sites I found for more information:

Update: Here is what The Infertility Cure has to say about Beel pollen and royal Jelly:

"Bee pollen and/or royal jelly is regenerative and tonifying. Bogdan Tekavcic M.D., a Yugoslavian gynecologist, conducted a study in which the majority of women who were given bee pollen with royal jelly showed improvement or disappearance of their menstral problems, while there was no change in the placebo group. Another study showed bee pollen significantly improved sperm production in men. Bee pollen, which is worker bee food, is rich in vitamins, minerals, necleic acids, and steroid hormones, and improves health, endurance, and immunity. royal jelly is modified pollen fed only to the reproducing qeen bee, whose job is to produce more infant bees. The nutritive tonic might be considered the bee equivalent of fertility drugs. Rich in amino acids, vitamins, and enzymes, royal jelly helps the qeen lay millions of eggs and live longer than the worker bee."

Hi Tina,
We have had great success with using royal jelly for increasing egg health. Just this week I have received two testimonials of pregnancies after years of trying. Both women were over 35 and using royal jelly.

Your blog is great, keep up the good work.

Hi I just wanted to make a comment on the suggestion you made in regards to refrigerating the royal jelly that is in honey form. It says on the label Do not refrigerate. So, you might want to correct that. It is suppose to stay at room temperature. Also, you are not suppose to put it in tea or anything hot.

hi, just wanted to ask if taking royal jelly with vitex is safe. i read that they both help .

Tina said...

The refrigeration is for pure jelly not Royal Jelly with honey. In the article there is a difference between Royal Jelly and Pure Jelly. You are correct that you should not put any of these items in anything hot. It will kill any of the properties that you want.

I am not to familiar with Vitex, but it sound like it is a herbal supplement which should be fine with Royal Jelly. I may do an article on vitex. Look for more to come.

i'm taking capsules with the name "royal jelly". and the bottle doesnt say anything about propolis. is this also effective?

Tina said...

Taking royal jelly has been proven for some women to help with or without propolis.

I did see someone mention the Vitex above. Have you found out any more about combining this with the royal jelly. We just had our first failed IVF cycle after multiple IUI attempts last year. We are following up with the RE next week however I want to start doing something with my body now. I don't want to wait. I plan to get my nutritional status up to par and want to give myself the best chances for cycle #2. Please let me know about their combination and also maybe the combination of taking FertliAid. I was taking that but not on a regular basis. What do you think about that. My main problem is poor stim response...low antral follicle count and low quality. Thanks! Jodie

What is the recommended dosage of royal jelly for fertility?

Tina said...

Sorry, I have not been active on this blog since my final round of treatments. I just realized that the comment thing was not working and I think I have fixed it.

To answer some questions:

I do have an article on Vitex. You can find it in the Archives or just click on IVF Plus 40 to go to the last article written.

As for the recommended dosage for Royal Jelly. I think it is 2 tbsp a day. Most of the products have dosage recommendations. Check out some of the other resources I have listed. They also have dosages.

I bought fresh Royal Jelly at the weekend and it said to take a dose of 1/4 teaspoon per day. Did you really mean 2 table spoons per day?

Your blog is great and I learn a great deal from it. May I also share that The pollen contains the essential health benefits that a human body needs like vitamins, minerals, amino acids and proteins, enzymes and co enzymes. It has an anti-oxidant ingredient. Honey is an alternative sweetener for people with diabetes. This pollen is also an important component for antibiotics and antihistamine. It can also boost sex life and prevent prostate problems.

please indicate what's the recommended amount to take daily, some say 1/4 tsp others 2 tbs, that's a big discrepancy.

Tina said...

I am no expert on what dosage is required. I think it depends on the form of royal jelly and the concentration. You should read the label on your product and take the recommended dosage. You can't go wrong if you take it the way it is suppose to be used.

Hi ladies,
I personally use Pure unpasturized Royal Jelly which needs to be kept refrigerated. I take 1tea spoon before breakfast and 1 tea spoon before bedtime. It is important not to water it down, infact, swallow saliva to push it down, as that will give you the best results. I also take (3)1,000mg R.J capsules throughout the day, that is my body tolerance no side effects @ all. As well as Maca root, you might want to research that as I believe is a very good supplement for t.t.c I did also detox my body before. Best wishes
